Charge into Fire Safety
October (FIRE SAFETY MONTH)
“Charge into Fire Safety”
- Make a home escape plan. Draw a map of your home showing all doors and windows.
- Know/practice at least two ways out of every room.
- Have an outside meeting area, safe distance from home.
- Practice your home fire drill at night and during the day, twice a year, batteries change.
- If you have kids, teach them how to escape on their own.
- Close doors behind you, which may slow the spread of smoke, heat and fire.
- If the smoke alarm sounds, GET OUT AND STAY OUT.
- If you must escape through smoke, GET LOW AND GO under the smoke to your way out. STAY ON THE WALL……..
- CALL the fire department from OUTSIDE your home.
- You have less than (6) minutes to get out of your home before the fire becomes life threatening.
- While 71% of families have an escape plan, only 47% of those have practiced it.
- Know the difference between a smoke detector alarm vs a carbon monoxide alarm.
- Know the location of your fire extinguisher and how to use it.
