Elder Kenneth R. Edmondson, Senior Pastor
Elder Kenneth R. Edmondson came to us from the Tennessee Conference. He has served as a pastor in the United Methodist Church since 1982. Elder Edmondson completed his education while being transferred from appointment to appointment. He received his primary education in the Nashville public schools, followed by matriculation at Tennessee State University, Volunteer State College, Trevecca Nazarene College, and finally the Master of Divinity degree from the Interdenominational Theological Center of Atlanta, Georgia. During his years at the ITC he served the Gammon Fellowship as secretary and was elected as vice president of the Student government of the ITC. During the years 1996-98 he served as the Advocate for the International Student body. He was inundated with the theology of Jacquelyn Grant and James Cone.
Centenary is Edmondson’s 10th appointment representing 19 parishes since 1982, with an average service time of 3 years each. The Elder has served as a district leader in various capacities for the Tennessee Annual Conference and for the past five years he has been the Conference chair of the following bodies: Resolutions Committee – Ethnic Local Church Concerns – Black Methodists for Church Renewal – and the Clergy Committee on Investigation.
Elder Edmondson is about pleasing God and has given himself to helping congregations to heal, re-focus, and develop needed ministries. The best way to get to know him is through joining him in doing God’s work.
